Laptops are one of the key gadgets that are fast becoming a must-have these days. Be a student, entrepreneur and others; laptops suit the needs of almost all.

You would be amazed to know that laptops have been around for 40 years and during so much time, nothing much has really changed. Yes, the hardware is now much faster and robust with thinner and lighter bodies.

India is a huge market for laptop companies to thrive, such as HP, Lenovo, Acer, Dell and more. But, let’s face it, be it the Lenovo laptop, HP laptops or any other brand that you see today is similar to those of earlier days.

Over the years, the size and shapes of computers have changed – but not hugely to mention much about. However, brands have been trying to tweak the conventional norms by coming up with dual-screen devices, wooden body, thinner bezels and more.

Events like Computex and more see all that’s buzzing in the computing world, and it does not suggest much that will change overall. And it is what has been tried to cover in this post that you just went through.

Even if the trends show that there will not be significant changes how a laptop will look like in 10 years, the relevance of this device is not expected to die down soon.

Given the amazing portability that it provides to the users, you may see a large number of people, especially travellers with notebooks. Whatever be the shapes of laptops, their credibility will not be fading any time soon.

A built-in screen with a webcam on the top, clamshell design equipped with a keyboard, along with a trackpad on the bottom is what has been the style of a typical laptop. You can open it and close it, and the system keeps going like this – boring.

Most of the laptop manufacturers have become so pro at doing what they do that their annual updates seem like nothing but fiddling around the edges. The overall style of the laptop is expected to remain the same with companies just shaving the bezels. Yes, the bezels may further get trimmed, or companies may move web cam from top to the display.

Thus, other few tweaks here and there, laptops won’t see many changes for a long time and not even in 10 years. But, there are few changes in the laptops that you will see as these have been seen at Computex and other computing events.

Have a look in detail:

Dual-screen laptop with built-in second display and much more

One of the key changes that were evident at an event like Computex in 2019 was a dual-screen laptop with a built-in second display by Asus. It was the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo that grabbed attention, which did not look like a marketing gimmick.

In fact, you may see more notebooks launching with similar aspects. It may make multitasking, especially gaming super easier. Apple has also come with a double screen with a touch bar.

However, the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo will not be the only dual-screen laptop. It is because even Intel is gearing up with a new form factor concept – Honeycomb Glacier. HP laptops are not behind as it has shown earlier than it can impress – with the laptop made out of wood.

More choices about the hardware that empowers them

Intel comes with so much at Computex 2019 (computing event in Taiwan) to get you excited about laptops again. One of the best things at the event was how the rivals of Intel are now coming up with hardware powering the laptops.

As of now, Intel has been one of the major choices when it was about powering laptops. Also, the monopoly meant that the brand has a bigger influence on how notebooks act and look.

It was one of the reasons why so many laptops felt so similar and uninspiring for a long time. However, we do have AMD offering its hardware to a large number of laptops. What’s more, there are also Qualcomm Snapdragon-powered notebooks that will also rule the roost.

The increased competition means that Intel needs to keep innovating to stay ahead in the competition. Computex 2020 is soon going to come, and there are hopes that we will see laptops with more tweaks that will at least give a new look to them.

Overall, the overall design and form factor of laptops are not going to change much in the next 10 years or so.
