I was so excited when my parents informed me that we are visiting Dalian. Dalian is a land of memories. In our childhood, me and my brother spent 60% of our time roaming in the streets of Dalian. The Liaoning city is the motherland of grandparents. Every one of us was super excited about the trip. The ticket was booked in China Airlines, as they are offering some of the cheapest rates available.

Due to the excitement, I forgot that I will be unavailable for the trip as I was going to London for a business meeting. I was so upset, withholding lots of courage I informed my dad that I will not be available for the beautiful journey. When I informed them, my mother started crying as she was super excited about the trip. After encountering the emotions ride, the next step was to cancel the trip, for which my father asked me to complete the cancellation process. I was not happy but to save some amount I needed to cancel the trip within a fixed time. Before canceling the trip I visited the China Airlines Cancellation Policy page for understanding the policies better.

What are the rules mentioned in the China Airlines Cancellation Policy?

1- The airline will forfeit the amount who cancels the ticket on departure date.

2- For a passenger traveling to or from the USA, there is no cancellation fee till 48 hours of booking.

3- According to the China Airlines Cancellation Policy, After the above events, the airline will charge a cancellation fee.

4- The cancellation fee depends on the route and services preferred by the passengers.

5- Passenger paid the ticket fare through Credit card will get the refund within 7 days depending on the bank.

6- For the Korean route, the airline will not charge cancellation fee if the booking cancels within one week of reservation.

7- As per the China Airlines Cancellation Policy, The airline will withdraw the cancellation fee if the cancellation reasons are inevitable.

8- The passenger with membership requires to pay less as compared to standard passengers.

9- One condition is associated with the online cancellation process, the ticket must be booked from the CAL.  


While reading the policies, I was so sure that we will receive a full refund. As we are canceling tickets on the same day of reservation and the departure date is ten days away. I calculated the whole amount and started the cancellation process. Before starting the cancellation process I cross-checked the speed of my Wi-Fi connection. 

The China Airlines Cancellation Process is simple and easy to perform. I just followed the below-mentioned step and finished the cancellation process easily. 

1- I searched the official site of China Airlines on bing.com and by using the User ID and Password completed the login procedure

2- On the home page, I clicked on the Manage My Trip tab and Fill the essential required field (Passenger last name and Reservation confirmation code)

3- In the new page, a list is open with our booking code

4- I selected the name of passenger whom I wish to cancel 

5- After the selection, a pop-up message appeared with the China airlines cancellation policy

6- I go through the terms and condition appeared on the screen and submitted my selection

7- The refund amount is displayed on the screen with the refund policies

8- After submitting the cancellation form, the airline auto cancel my trip and send me the cancellation confirmation on my registered Email ID

9- In the official mail, it is mentioned that I will get the full refund from the airline within 3-7 business days

What are the elements associated with the China airlines refund policy?

1- The passenger who bought a ticket from the official website of China Airlines is only eligible for a refund.

2- Only refundable ticket holders qualify for a full refund. The non-refundable ticket holders will only get the Government tax portion as a refund. 

3- The airline will not grant any refund to the passenger holding an Award ticket.

4- The add-on purchased by the passenger does not qualify for a refund, the airline will only offer ticket fare as the refund all other expenses will be exempted.

5- When a passenger encounters the “Duplicate Ticket Purchase” issue, he or she needs to contact the CI/AE office for requesting a refund. 

6- Under the China Airlines Cancellation Policy, The passenger entitled to the membership program will get more amount as a refund.

In case the flight is delayed or canceled by the airline, then the airline will offer free meals, accommodation, vouchers as compensation. China Airlines will grant a refund to those passengers who request a refund at least 10 days before departure. I am happy with the China Airlines Cancellation Policy.
